Getting Ready for Spring 2022

It’s time to prepare my Birdbox for spring 2022. The old nest was removed late last year as shown below. What an incredible piece of engineering from the little blue tits!

I really hope the nest is as successful as last year. I’m planning on a few changes this time. I did not realise they needed to build the nest so high to get closer to the light which made them very close to the camera. So this year I will use a fish eye lens so we can see more of the them.

Some nest boxes introduce day light so you can see the birds with a normal camera (ie not infrared). Others introduce artificial light but this needs to be in sync with the daylight and go dark at night time, otherwise they won’t have a natural sleep cycle. I have some plans for this although time is running out before they arrive so we shall see how far I get.

So you don’t miss any of the action, sign up to my news letter to be notified of new blog posts.
